Timeshare contracts are like internet scams in the following ways:

Both timeshare contracts and internet scams are marketed with high pressure techniques.
No matter how much I try to inform people, people will still sign timeshare contracts and people will still fall prey to internet scams.

Timeshare contracts differ from internet scams in the following ways:

If someone signs a timeshare contract, that does not impact me.
In contrast, when victims fall prey to internet scams victims are both providing capital for scammers to expand their business and incentivizing copycat scammers.
That means more scam emails for me to have sort through.
As much as I hate having to dig through scam emails, for other people the impact of internet scams is much worse.
The profits from internet scams are so great that there are credible stories of people holding other people captive to work as internet scammers.

If a scammer from another country provides written statements that your money will rapidly grow, you have no means to enforce that contract.
In contrast, a timeshare company very much intends to enforce its contracts.

A typical timeshare is not merely not a good investment, a timeshare should not even be thought of as an investment at all.
Instead of buying an asset, you would be buying a liability.

I often listen to the radio over the internet while I work on this website.
As I listen, there are frequently advertisements for companies that purport to be able to get people out of timeshare contracts.
I am skeptical whether those companies can do what their advertisements say that they can do, but apparently they see a market for their services.
Keep in mind:

The value of a fee-simple home will generally rise over time.
The value of a car will usually decline over time until it reaches some minimal value.
A timeshare may be extremely difficult to even give away.

Research BEFORE signing any timeshare contract
